Misses 6-20; Men's 32-48.

A traditional tucked linen shirt was worn by peasants, farmers, and shepherds in the Pannonian Basin, the northern farming district of former Yugoslavia. Originally made from homespun linen, but elegant in cotton, silk, and sheers.

This sewing pattern for the thigh-length shirt features simple straight panels of fabric, which are then tucked in front and pleated into shoulder yoke in front and back. The sleeves have underarm gussets and are pleated into cuffs. The notched collar and cuffs show the influence of tailored urban dress of it's time. The shirt has a front opening, self-placket, and buttons down the front. The pattern provides two lengths - the traditional thigh-length garment, and a dress-length.

The pattern includes historical information and instructions for decorative stitching and tucking techniques for the yoke.

Suggested fabrics: Shirting-weight fabrics such as cotton, blends, broadcloth, linen, chambray, muslin, gingham, or silk.

This pattern is available as a Paper pattern and PDF pattern. Choose the
pattern format you want in the drop down menu. The PDF pattern has instructions and files for copy shop (36” and A0), print at home (A4 and 8.5”x11”)
